Still pregnant.
Round. Very round.
Tired. Very tired.
Heavy. Very heavy.
Taught my class today--one of my students said I looked like I might pop at any minute. When I let them know that I was two days past my due date, they looked quite startled, like they might actually have to help me birth in class. I decided not to tell them about the long, slow time of early labor before there's an actual baby and just let them sweat it a little.
I've been having tons and tons of Braxton-Hicks contractions, and they're becoming more uncomfortable by the day. Actually, I'm having one right now. Feels like someone's wrapped a whalebone corset around my whole middle and is yanking it as tight as possible. I just feel really squeezed. Squeezed, crampy, achy, and a bit grouchy. Actually, I feel very much like I have PMS, which I'm thinking is a good sign.
I went for a nice walk today--it's still absolutely gorgeous outside, sunny and in the high 70s/low 80s. Yesterday I walked to a new little florist two blocks away and bought a teeny bunch of multicolored sweet peas. Along with daisies, sweet peas are April's birth month flower. They're lovely, dainty, paper-thin. They sing of sweet little babies coming in the springtime.
Come on, little baby. I know it's cozy in there, but I promise, it's even better out here...
Hello Jodi and Owen!
Greetings and good wishes. I hope you are both feeling okay and managing the anticipation. I'm impressed that you taught today Jodi-- I'm thinking good world thoughts to encourage her to arrive soon. What a beautiful season to have a Birthday. Yesterday was Charlie's birthday, today the Mulligan's, so I think tomorrow might still be open.
Much love to all three of you!
Rachel
